Be a Goth for sun safety ?

I found the perfect justification for being a Goth or wearing Victorian Gothic inspired clothing at least.
This is a quote from the Queensland Cancer Council;

Slip on sun protective clothing
Choose clothing that:  Covers as much skin as possible e.g. long sleeves and high necks/collars.Is made from close weave materials such as cotton, polyester/cotton and linen.Is dark in colour to absorb UV rays. White and lighter colours reflect UV onto skin
So there, next time you think someone is a freak, or you feel like a freak, for wearing long and black in the middle of summer and it is 35 degrees Celsius it's just being sunsmart !

Oh and I can confirm that wearing long sleeves/skirts in black all year round does work in keeping the UV rays at bay. I have extremely pale white English skin, I live in the skin cancer capital of the world and I have never unwittingly tanned or burnt my skin when it has been covered. The face ? well I use 30+ suncream always without fail even in winter any time I'm going to be in direct sunlight for 10 minutes or more. I also carry a parasol on long outings, but don't go for the lacy ones though it has to be opaque or there is no point.

So stay sunsmart and wear black !
